Spotlight Program
Overview
The Spotlight Program is a voluntary, auditioned program for children 7–14 years of age, intended to define the path to company involvement, with the students working in an apprentice capacity.
The program allows the parent and the student to select the appropriate curriculum that will develop the necessary skills required for company when they are of age.
The curriculum is structured with Ballet, Tap and Jazz classes as selected by the instructors, to help them become a polished, well-rounded dancer that has the basics of all three disciplines. Ballet is the basis of all dancing. Tap and Jazz are important styles that build on ballet skills, to make the difference between a student who merely dances and one who is truly a dancer.
Benefits of Joining
There are special benefits to dancers participating in the Spotlight Program:
- Dancers are on the path to being the most well-rounded and polished dancers possible.
- Dancers receive special recognition in the studio with T-shirts/sweatshirts.
- Dancers are showcased in area parades and festivals.
- Dancers have additional performing opportunities.
- Dancers will have a special piece in the annual recital.
- Dancers are showcased in the recital’s finale.
Requirements for the Spotlight Program
Requirements for the Spotlight Program are simple but require commitment by both the dancer and their parents:
- Enrollment in separate Ballet, Tap and Jazz Upper Training Level classes. Student must be actively attending all three disciplines.
- Both dancer and parents sign agreement to additional rehearsals needed for parades, festivals and recital.
- Parents agree to additional cost for T-shirt/sweatshirt and additional costume for recital. (Approximate total cost: $100.) Costume fee will be due according to Studio Policies.
If you feel this is a commitment that you would like to make, please inquire at the office. There is an annual organizational meeting in the fall after the dance year begins.
